Canada Viva is excited to be part of AE West, an empowering month-long artist development program for emerging Western Canadian musicians. Hosted by Canada’s Music Incubator (CMI) in partnership with the National Music Centre, AE West provides practical skills and resources for artists to build sustainable careers in music.
We’re honored to bring our expertise to this year’s program with workshops designed to help artists elevate their live performances. Here’s a preview of what we’ll be covering:
1) Building Your Musical Family
From musical directors to bandmates and session musicians, we’ll discuss how to create a cohesive team that shares your vision and enhances your sound.
2) Transforming Album Recordings into Live Shows
Artists will learn the essentials of live show design, from arranging and orchestrating songs to creating smooth show flows, building playback sessions, and selecting the right gear.
3) Live Production 101
We’ll walk artists through the key elements of live production—input lists, stage plots, and production schedules—along with best practices for coordinating with technicians and venue staff to deliver a seamless show.
AE West is an incredible opportunity for Canada Viva to support emerging artists as they take the next step in their musical journeys. We’re looking forward to sharing our insights and helping artists bring their music to life on stage!
